The science behind Probiosooth

Probiosooth is based on years of research by the University of Bath team into skin and wound infection as well as novel ways to detect and combat infection. We have published in leading, peer-reviewed journals in both microbiology, chemistry and paediatric medicine.

Evidence for urease casuing nappy rash

We studied six babies over 9  months and observed a strong correlation between nappy rash incidence and faecal urease.

Evidence that Proteus mirabilis and ammonia damage skin

Our work has shown that urease expressing bacteria such as P. mirabilis secrte ammonia and are a key part of the complex pathology of nappy rash.

Evidence that inhibiting urease protects skin

In-vivo evidence that inhibiitng urease with natural compunds protects skin from nappy rash in labortaory studies
